Poppins Bush School is a purpose built, state of the art childcare centre located in Moore Creek, which nurtures children to learn and develop in both indoor and natural spaces.
Between our 6 classrooms, mud kitchen, construction room, expansive yard and forest area, we strive to invigorate the senses and stimulate the creative imagination of little ones.
Poppins Bush School responds to a child’s right and need to access natural spaces for optimum learning and development. Our mission is to provide dedicated time for children of all ages to be outside in a quality natural environment away from screens, a crowded school/ sports curriculum and the bubble of being inside.
Through joining our Bush School community, your child will be given the opportunity to grow at their own pace, connect to others with kindness and creativity, learn holistically and increase their communication, self- regulation and confidence.
Simultaneously, children will build a positive and protective relationship with our planet Earth which will enable them to advocate for the survival of plant and animal species that are essential for human survival.
Each age group has a different set of learning goals which are developmentally appropriate. Each age group will also be increasingly challenged to build knowledge, explore their local community, consider risks and accept challenges while under the supervision of a qualified educator.
It is our aim to instil in our children a love of learning, and encourage them to take an active role in their education. A love of learning is a foundation upon which children may become lifelong learners and self-directed in their lives.
We focus on the individual needs and interests of each child and sensitively support each child’s social and emotional development by building and engaging in meaningful relationships.
Our Junior Preschool Educators nurture and support each child’s social and emotional development and aim to nurture resilience in all children.
Our Educators are dedicated to fostering our children’s diverse needs by focusing on the development of the ‘whole child’ – physically, socially, emotionally and spiritually.
Outdoor play supports the development of healthy and active lifestyles by offering children opportunities for physical activity, freedom and movement, and promoting a sense of well-being.
Outdoor play gives children contact with the natural world and offers them experiences that are unique to outdoors, such as direct contact with the weather and the seasons.
Playing outside also helps children to learn about, understand and respect nature, the environment and the interdependence of humans, animals, plants, and lifecycles.
Outdoor play also supports children's problem-solving skills and nurtures their creativity, as well as providing rich opportunities for their developing imagination, inventiveness and resourcefulness.
Children need an outdoor environment that can provide them with space, both upwards and outwards, and places to explore, experiment, discover, be active and healthy within, and to develop their physical capabilities.
The outdoor environment offers space and therefore is particularly important to those children who learn best through active movement. Very young children learn predominately through their sensory and physical experiences which supports brain development and the creation of neural networks.
