November 2025 Newsletter

🍂 Welcome to Our November Newsletter! As we step into November, we’re reflecting on the beautiful moments that made October so special at Poppins. From raising awareness to celebrating family bonds, it was a month filled with heart and community spirit. Pink Ribbon Week | 6–10 October October began with a wave of pink as we joined the national effort to support Breast Cancer Awareness. Our children, educators, and families wore pink with pride—ribbons, shirts, and accessories all helped spread the message of hope. Together, we raised $22.00 for the McGrath Foundation. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this meaningful cause! Grandparents Week | 15–24 October Later in the month, we opened our doors to some very special guests—our grandparents! Each afternoon, one of our rooms hosted a delightful session filled with storytelling, crafts, and shared laughter. It was a joy to see generations come together and create lasting memories. A heartfelt thank you to all the families who joined us in making Grandparents Week so memorable. Special Visit from Bowen Goats | 30 October October ended on a high note with a visit from Wendy of Bowen Goats, who brought along some irresistibly cute baby pygmy goats! The children were absolutely enchanted—stroking their soft fur, watching them play, and learning all about how they’re cared for. Wendy shared fun facts about pygmy goats and answered lots of curious questions. It was a joyful, hands-on experience that sparked giggles, wonder. Thank you too, Wendy, for bringing such a magical moment to Poppins.

New Feathered Friends at Poppins!

October brought a delightful surprise to our Poppins family—eight new chickens have joined our hen house, and the excitement has been contagious! Our Prep children were overjoyed towel come these feathered friends, and their arrival sparked a wave of curiosity, care, and collaboration.

Mr Craig visited us on Tuesday to deliver the chickens and spent time with the children, sharing expert tips on how to look after them. From feeding routines to safe handling, the children learned what it takes to be responsible chicken carers. This hands-on experience gave them a deeper understanding of animal care and the importance of empathy and routine.

Together, we set some thoughtful expectations around how we interact with the chickens—what they eat, how we keep their space clean, and the daily jobs needed to ensure they feel safe, loved, and part of our Poppins community. It was a wonderful opportunity to build teamwork and responsibility in a fun and meaningful way.

Naming the chickens was a highlight! With four brown hens and four black hens, the children put their creativity to work and came up with a fantastic lineup:

Len, Glen, Jack, Bawkah, Honey,Bunny, Daisy, and Rosie. Each name reflects the children's personalities and imagination, and we’re so proud of their choices.

While our chickens aren’t laying eggs just yet—they’re still a little too young—we’re eagerly awaiting the day they begin contributing fresh eggs to Miss Gail’s kitchen. We’ll be sure to keep you updated when that exciting milestone arrives!

In the meantime, our chickens have become a beloved part of daily life at Poppins, and we’re thrilled to watch the children grow alongside them.
